We continue celebrating National Human Trafficking Prevention Month by hosting an event with more than 400 registered virtual and in-person attendees in partnership with It’s A Penalty, A2It’s A Penalty video1, the California Hotel & Lodging Association, the Hotel Association of Los Angeles, and major hotel brands to raise awareness of human trafficking in advance of Super Bowl LVI.
The event, hosted at the Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown, featured remarks from IHG Americas CEO Elie Maalouf and a panel detailing how hotels are tackling trafficking featuring representatives from G6 Hospitality, Marriott International, and Hilton, moderated by AHLA President & CEO Chip Rogers. U.S. Representative Karen Bass (D-CA 37th) and California Attorney General Rob Bonta provided special remarks via video messages sharing their support for the event’s efforts.

In coordination with the event, the Hotel Association of Los Angeles and the California Hotel & Lodging Association helped distribute It’s A Penalty anti-trafficking kits to hundreds of LA-area hotels in-person and digitally.
Training can and does save lives. Ahead of Super Bowl LV last year in Tampa, these partnerships and your efforts led to the arrest of 71 people for human trafficking in Tampa and helped identify and rescue 18 girls who were on the missing children’s list.
